Hi everyone ! Hope your Saturday is getting off to a great start ! Mine most definitely is as I'm going on holiday today, keeping my fingers crossed for the weather as in the UK it's been a little wet of late!
So, onto today's StepXStep, I wanted to show you how this Jumbo Tag came together with lots of Distress Ink and glue !
I've tried using the resist technique before using glue but without success. I saw recently that Claudine Hellmuth's Multi Matt Medium could be used and wanted to give it a try.
So, I stamped the swirl first with Archival ink then applied the matt medium with some wet 'n' dry foam, stamped over the top but slightly to one side of the image and dried it off with my heat gun.
I then blended Distress Inks over the top, I've used Aged Mahogany, Pumice Stone and Wild Honey. You can see that the glue resists the ink and gives a lovely second image. As the tag is cream, this shows through the glue.
I then stamped over the image without using an acylic block which results in a less perfect stamped image, but is a great effect.
I stamped the lace image using Old Paper Distress Stains, then stamped the bodice on top of it and cut it out.
The flower is die cut using the Tattered florals die from Crinoline. I've then dyed it using Aged Mahogany DI as I wanted to keep the strength in the fabric. I find that when I dye it using liquid, i.e. Distress Stains, or watered down ink, the material loses some of it's stability.
The layers are all held together with a Hitch Fastener. The ribbon is seam binding and I have used Distress Ink spritzed with water to dye it.
The text was stamped onto white card and then cut up into individual words and then inked with Distress Inks. The gorgeous mesh is from Linda's Funkie Junkie Boutique as is the Filigree corner and metal flower. The pearl is a Tim Holtz Ideaology.
Make sure you hop over to the Funkie Junkie Boutique, there's more stock arriving all the time !
